Hello, I’m Bee, and I want to share the story behind Be Thai Massage in Earlsfield, London. My journey started far from here, in a small village in Thailand. As a kid who raised buffalo in a rice field, I never imagined I’d open my own massage studio in London. My path wasn’t a master plan—it was guided by the gentle (and not-so-gentle) nudges of my family.
I grew up in a small village in Udon, Thailand, where all my relatives lived close by. When my grandparents felt tired or sore, we kids were their go-to masseuses. I was always my grandmother’s favourite, and she was my first teacher. Her feedback was… direct.
“Stop right there, that’s my bone!” she’d say, a mix of scolding and laughter in her voice. When I stepped on her leg, she would tell me, “Stay balanced, don’t move too fast!” She taught me the difference between a tense muscle and a hard bone, and how to apply just the right amount of pressure. It was a simple, joyful way to learn, and I realised how much I loved bringing her comfort.
As I got older, I moved to Bangkok and worked in a beauty salon, giving head massages during shampoo treatments. One client took particular notice of my touch. “You know,” she told me, “if you ever become a professional, let me know. Your pressure and style are amazing!” Her words stuck with me, but I didn’t think much of them at the time.
A few years later, in 2012, life brought me to London. It was a big change with a new country, a new language, and everything unfamiliar. I wanted to find work that felt natural to me, something I truly understood. Massage had always been part of my life, so I decided to train professionally and get my license. That was when my childhood skill started to become my real career.
Once I started my career in London, things took off. I quickly built a loyal clientele, and my confidence soared. I even had a chiropractor, Dr. Antony, who regularly recommended his patients to me. It’s an incredible feeling to see someone walk in with pain and leave feeling better and more free. It reminds me every day why I love this work.
After nine years, I took a leap of faith and opened Be Thai Massage right here in Earlsfield. It’s a dream come true, and I often think back to my grandmother’s words. Before she passed, she told me, “This girl will grow up to take care of her family.” She was right. The financial success is wonderful, but the true reward is knowing I can support my family back home.
Nothing brought the meaning of my work into sharper focus than a visit home in 2023. My father had hurt his leg and spent most of his days just sitting. I dedicated myself to giving him daily massages, and little by little, he was able to get up and walk again. That experience was a powerful reminder: what I do is about more than just a job; it’s about making a real difference in people’s lives.
Whether it’s helping a client find relief from chronic pain or, in my father’s case, helping a loved one regain their mobility, my work is a testament to the power of healing touch. I invite you to come in and experience the care and expertise rooted in my journey, my family, and the traditions of my home.
